The season of pumpkin spice lattes, corn maizes, and witchy good fun draws nigh and what better way to bring that in than enjoying all three things in one place. X-Dog is holding The Great Pumpkin Race Cross Country Run 5k on October 12 at 10 a.m. at Heiser Farms in Dayton.
X-Dog’s legend precedes itself with a true sense of what running should be about – fun and community – these no-frills races are somewhat of a kept secret of awesome. This is a smaller race with a field limit of 300 and registration price is just right at $15 for adults and $10 for runners under 17. There is also a 1/4 mi. kids race right after the 5k that is FREE (please donate canned food for the Oregon Food Bank)! Get your kiddos in on the fun and they’ll even receive a goodie bag at the finish.
And you’ll get something almost as awesome as a goodie bag (say it with me people, for it is our battle cry)… BEER!!!! There will be post-race entertainment and awards for age groups, best costume, and “for catching a zombie”, you’re on your own for that one. Not to mention, all of the goings on at the farm, including: corn mazes, trains, and helicopter rides!
I, myself, love the sound of this race as it hearkens back to my high school XC days, as short lived as it were. It looks like a great time for the whole family and, again, beer!
