The race might be Boring, but it’s for a great cause! Okay, this race will probably be anything other than boring but who can help putting a little bit of a cheesy spin on the name?
The 1st annual Boring Marathon, Half-Boring Half-Marathon and Near Boring 8K races will take place on September 14, 2014. All races support the cross country and track teams at Barlow H.S. and West Orient Middle School and all proceeds go directly to these programs.
Why the name? The marathon and half marathon follow routes in to Boring, Oregon. The Near Boring 8K doesn’t actually run to Boring, just near it. All races start and finish at Sam Barlow High School at 5105 SW 302nd Avenue in Gresham. Part of the route is on the Springwater Trail. Here is a link to the full routes.
Oh and by the way, what are you doing the day before…and how crazy do you feel? You can win a special award by doing both this event and the Hagg Hybrid Marathon and Half Marathon.
Refreshments will be available at the start and finish and electrolyte and water will be served at the aid stations. Sign up prior to September 1st to be guaranteed a shirt!
