Race Preview: River Run

  The fourth annual Black Diamond Sports Therapy River Run Half-Marathon, 10K, and 5K will be held on September 20, 2014 in Wenatchee, Washington.  This race coincides with downtown Wenatchee's Taste of the Harvest Festival.  The race starts at Pybus Public Market, which is seriously the coolest little marketplace ever! The historic Pybus steel warehouse was transformed into an open air marketplace for restaurants, food and wine vendors, local craftsman and more in 2013. Already, it has become one of the places I have to visit whenever I am in Wenatchee.  

The race course for all 3 distances runs along the Columbia River on paved trails.  The views along this course are amazing.  While I haven’t participated in the River Run, I have run these trails on my own and at other events.  It is one of my favorite places to run, and I hope to be able to make it for this event either this year or in the near future.  It is sure to be an awesome run with views of the river, the Cascade mountains, and the surrounding foothills.  The course is a combination of flat sections, rollers, and a few hills.  So, don’t forget to get your hill training in!

Afterwards, runners can enjoy the Taste of the Harvest Festival and check out Pybus Market, as well.  Both are sure to have some of  Wenatchee’s famous local apples.  So don’t forget to pick some up. There is nothing better than a fresh off the tree apple from the Apple Capital of the World.

Time: 9:00 A.M. – Half-Marathon, 10:00 A.M. – 10K and 5K

Start Location: Pybus Public Market, 7 N. Worthen St., Wenatchee, WA

Finish Location: Stanley Civic Center Plaza, N. Wenatchee Ave. and 1st St. (about a 1/4 mile from the start)

Race Fees: (Through Sept. 1) Half Marathon – $55,   10K – $40,   5K – $30

Race Fees for 12-18 year olds: (Through Sept. 19) Half Marathon – $40,   10K – $20,   5K – $15
