That definitely looks tough!

This recap was submitted by Run Oregon guest blogger Robin York. Feel free to Submit a Guest Post in the “Contact Us” tab if you want to get involved. The Chehalem Challenge is sure to be full of beautiful scenery, taking place in the backdrop of the Chehalem Mountains and it should provide plenty of challenge with a hilly terrain. Race events include a "More Than" half marathon (14 miles), 5k run/walk and Tot Trot.

The “More Than” half marathon is an event designed to test your endurance and requires strength, perseverance and discipline because “Tough Mothers do ‘More Than…’ every single day.” This is in recognition to the amazing mothers of children with special needs and everything they do with strength, perseverance and discipline.

The “More Than” Half Marathon will be 14 miles in total length and include 6 miles of gravel terrain, 1068 foot elevation climb in the first five miles and a “mountain top experience” as you take in the views of the valley below. At mile 10, runners will begin a 2 mile climb with a 488 foot elevation change before finishing the remainder of the race down hill.

The event is being held at Chehalem Mountain Therapy Riding Center Inc. which is also the beneficiary that the fundraiser race is being held for. Chehalem Mountain Therapy Riding Center Inc. provides horseback therapy and riding to persons with special needs.

All abilities are welcome and it will be an event for the whole family to participate in and enjoy. Website states that strollers and wheelchairs are welcome.

Head over the morning of the race to pick up your race packet, snack on fresh fruits and meet the Norwegian Fjord therapy horses, learn more about horseback therapy and visit other ranch residents.

About Robin York (146 Articles)
Robin grew up as a couch potato and did everything she could to get out of exercise, until one day a good friend would not stop talking about this fun 5k race she was doing. Finally Robin got off the couch and trained for this "fun" race using C25K (couch to 5k program). After crossing that first finish line, she kept going and became a "runner". After losing 80 lbs, gaining health, a love of being active and setting a healthy example for her husband and kids, she thinks she'll stick with this whole "running thing".
