Race Preview: Crawfish Crawl 5k

It’s Crawfish season in Tualatin this weekend and yours truly will be celebrating by hitting the pavement for the 2014 Crawfish Crawl 5k, 10k, (new!) Half Marathon, and 1/2k kid’s Fun Run this Saturday, August 2.

Can we all just agree that the half marathon is the new ‘put a bird on it’ in the running community???

While the half marathon sounds like a ton of fun, I will be sticking to the fast and flat 5k that the Better Series touts for this race. And! This will be my first newly appropriated Better Series race come by way of Run with Paula, and I am pumped!!

I haven’t spent too much time in Tualatin, but have always heard about the famed Crawfish Festival that is complete with watermelon eating contests, live music, and, of course, crawfish and potatoes and corn on the cob. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

The race will take runners through Tualatin and will begin and end at Tualatin Park. Racers will be able to park at the Tualatin Haagen’s (8515 SW Tualatin Sherwood Rd.) and the first wave starts at 10:30 a.m. It’s fixing to be a hot one this Saturday, so make sure to slather on the waterproof sunscreen and to hydrate thyself.

Packet pick-up will be at Dick’s Sporting Goods (9402 SW Washington Square Road
Tigard, OR 97223this Friday from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and then again on race day starting at 9 a.m. at Tualatin Park.

So sign up and I will see you there on Saturday!
