Relays are popping up all over the place, which is good news for teams that have tried unsuccessfully for years to get into the relay that started it all, Hood to Coast. The added variety of relays can bring along some confusion and more questions about the relay world. With weekend relays, one day relays, ultra teams, elite teams and a whole list of relay jargon, it can easily become overwhelming for a runner. Fit Right will be covering all things related to relays this Thursday, June 19th at 7PM in their Third Thursday Seminar Series. Come early and get a run in before the seminar with 25 minute informal group run.
After the group run, representatives from The Gorgeous Relay and Cascade Lakes Relay will give a brief chat about what makes their events awesome. The Gorgeous Relay is a new one day Northwest event, beginning in the Columbia Gorge and finishing in Portland with 60 miles divided up between runners. Cascade Lakes Relay is an amazing weekend event beginning at Diamond Lake and finishing in Bend, covering 216 miles in two days. Heart and Soles, a team from the Hood to Coast movie, will also be giving a presentation. Heart and Soles will cover all the fun aspects of a relay and bring their experience to the discussion. Come find out what to expect, what to pack and why you should try a relay.
People will have the option to break off into groups and address questions with representatives from the various relays. This will be a great opportunity for anyone considering their first relay to ask questions, as well as a chance to check out a new relay for anyone thinking about branching out. There will be discounts offered on select relay merchandise and complimentary beer from 10 Barrel Brewery, for those over 21.
