Race Preview: Manzanita Beach Run/Walk

This year, the Manzanita Beach Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, July 12th in Manzanita, OR. The run takes place entirely on the beach, most of it on the hard pack near the water’s edge. The 5k and 10k will start at the same time from the same start line and head south towards their respective turnaround point. 

I ran this race last year and was very happy with how the event was run. It is a very flat course (literally zero elevation gain/loss), great for a new PR (if the wind doesn’t blow too hard), and if you get too hot, the ocean is right there. Runners and walkers of all speeds and ages are welcome, and so are leashed dogs. After finishing, I was able to get my race results printed out on a receipt-type printer, which I had not seen at any other race before.

So if you’re considering a weekend on the coast in July, give Manzanita a try for this beautiful race.
