The Bowerman name inspires awe and mysticism if you have lived in Oregon for any length of time. The Bowerman Athletic Club is just what you think it is, filled with awe-inspiring elite runners. Elite runners that like to do good in their free time – enter the Bowerman Athletic Club 5k.
Benefiting Achon Uganda Children’s Fund, the Bowerman Athletic Club will welcome runners of all speeds to join them Sunday, June 22 at 7 p.m. at the Nike Campus for a fast chip-timed two-lap 5k. Post race party will include live music and beer and food (for cost). And for one brief moment us mere mortals can say we raced with the gods, how’s that for fun?
The Bowerman Track Club is a Portland, OR based running club, open to the local community, that provides runners of all abilities with the knowledge and motivation to pursue their individual goals. This extends to everyone whether their goal is to enjoy a relaxed and fun social setting for their runs, or to qualify for the Olympic Trials.
The 5k is a flat fee of $30 and includes a Nike Dri-Fit Tee Shirt. I have seen some of these shirts floating around local races and they look super comfy and awesome – also, I think I will run a little taller knowing that I am repping the BAC.
I plan on being at the race in June and I hope you will join me there!
