I have ran this race in the past, and you won’t be disappointed. The race each year gets a huge turnout with a combination of elite speedsters and novices alike (nearly 650 runners attended last year). The course is relatively straight forward, but I can assure you it is not as easy as it seems. For a small race, I can say that the 8k presents some challenging climbs. Here is an excerpt from my previous running:
I can tell you from past experience to be prepared for a pretty good hill on each distance (and 2 in the 8k), specifically at 28th Avenue and then again along Fern Ridge Road. There is also a pretty good climb to the finish along Pine Street, so keep a little energy stored up in your tank.
There will be coffee, scones, smoothies, and fruit post-race. There will also be live music, bouncy houses, and facepainting as well. It’s a little something for everyone.
