Portland Marathon Clinic run for Saturday, May 10, 2014

PMTC-logoIt's the 6th run and the 6th week of the Portland Marathon Clinic as they help runners prepare for their fall marathon. While their schedule is set up to get you to the starting line of the 2014 Portland Marathon, if you're doing a race between mid-September and late October, you can make some small adjustments to make the schedule work for your race. This week's run is 9, 10 or 12 miles from Road Runner Sports in Tualatin on Saturday, May 10 at 8a. Why the different distances, you ask? It's all based on your weekly mileage and previous marathon experience. If you're new to marathon training and have weekly mileage on the lower end, you'll run the 9. Experienced and running more miles each week? You'll run 12. Most people at these training runs will run the middle distance. Your run this week will be mainly through residential neighborhoods, but there is one restroom along the route you can use mid-way through the run. Remember, when the PMC runs from RRS, there are bathrooms you can usually use at Starbucks across the parking lot. Speaking of parking, park towards the center (not right in front of any retailers) to leave rooms for the folks coming to shop. You'll want to be sure to pack a full set of dry clothes - including undies and bra (for the ladies) - so you're able to stay warm after your run and be comfortable on the drive home. Also remember to bring hydration and nutrition to practice for race day. Next week's run is at Duniway Park, another location with limited parking, so talk up your pace group buddies to find out who lives near you for carpooling!

Here’s the rest of the schedule:

All runs are on Saturdays and start promptly at 8a, so be there by 7:45 at the very latest for instructions and to use the restroom before you start.  Click on the location for a Google map showing you where to go. For directions, click on “Get Directions” and enter your starting address.

About Kelly Barten (1152 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
