Terrapin’s Cinco de Mayo races take place in downtown Portland this Sunday, May 4th. The finalized race course has now been published, and it is just the reverse from the proposed course that I previewed in early April.
All races still start at near Pioneer Courthouse Square on Broadway. The 5k and 10k avoid major elevation gains by turning east onto Salmon St shortly after the start, then heading north on Naito and zigzagging northwest to the respective turnaround points before returning to the finish on Broadway.
The Half Marathon now tackles the Broadway incline and the Terwilliger climb in its first four miles, before descending on Barber and Naito Parkway and then zigzagging through NW Portland for the latter six miles. For runners who have previously participated in the Shamrock Run, the course will feel very familiar, but with a different start line.
Remember to pick up your packet at the NE FootTraffic store (4020 NE Fremont St.) today, Saturday, May 3rd 10am-3pm to avoid long lines on race morning.
