X-Dog Events is bringing such a cool event to the Hideout! If you are not familiar with the Hideout, it is a real gem. Hornings Hideout, as it is officially called, is a private piece (albeit very large!) of land located in North Plains, Oregon. At the Hideout you will find real peacocks roaming about, lakes and creeks, spectacular views and lots of old growth forest. Also, since Hornings Hideout is private land, you likely would have never traveled on this course or these trails ever before! I love new surroundings when I am racing!

Here’s the scoop and all the details so you can make sure to get registered for the Havoc! Havoc at the Hideout occurs Sunday, May 18, 2014. Packet pick-up and race check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with the start of the race occurring at 10 a.m. The course will just be incredible. And really, all are welcome at this race, regardless of previous trail running experience or speed. It will cover 5-6 miles of trails, will be a single loop (so you won’t be going round-and-round-in-circles) and travel on lots of single-track trails. Just be careful not to run over any of the peacocks. There is even camping available at Hornings Hideout, so bring the family and make a night of it. At the finish line, X-Dog Events is going to throw an incredible tropical party. Included in this tropical madness will be mai tai sno cones (at least that is the rumor), tako poke, beer, pretzels … and likely lots of random tropical themed extras! Octopus? Rum? Who knows. Don’t forget to pack your fishing poles and disc golf goodies, as after the race, you can enjoy these activities at the Hideout, too.

Havoc at the Hideout is going to be a super unique event, and one I would love to add to my race calendar. Five to six miles of trails I’ve never seen, peacocks (I know, I’ve mentioned that about a million times), and a tropical party that is going to be second-to-none just makes me envious of all those participating. So get registered, make me jealous, and I’ll live vicariously through all of you! Enjoy this one!
