The third week of the Portland Marathon Clinic brings a run of 6, 8 or 10 miles on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego. The run starts at 8a; be there by 7:45 at the latest for instructions and info.
Please carpool to this run if you can, as parking is limited at George Rogers Park. If you arrive and the lot is full, there is street parking in the neighborhood just east of State Street, and as a bonus you’ll get to see some great early Lake Oswego homes.
Pace group leader Diane Lechner describes the route: “It’s a quiet runner-friendly start from George Rogers park, a pretty, green park looking onto the Willamette River. The out and back run starts along the river on a paved trail under big Oregon trees. The trail delivers you onto Old River Drive and traces along the river with a safe pedestrian lane, gentle rolling terrain and very little traffic. The run continues zig zaging through quiet neighborhoods into West Linn. The local runners and walkers are very friendly.”
For this run, you’ll want to bring your own hydration and nutrition – it’s never to early to start seeing what your stomach likes on these long runs! Post-run, I recommend Chuck’s Place, a coffee shop with great snacks, located at 2nd and B in downtown Lake Oswego.
Be sure to thank your pace group leaders, who are all volunteers and do a great job!
