Race Preview: Beer Run at the Bite of Bend

bite-of-bend-logoBend is a Craft Beer lovers paradise. Sporting over 14 breweries, it has become a mecca of hoppy and malty goodness. Bend is also quite an awesome place for local festivals and events (part of the reason I desperately want to move there). Combine those two awesome things with a run and you have a trifecta of awesome - the 5th Annual Beer Run at the Bite of Bend.

This race, which will take place on Sunday, June 29, is a 5k race loop through Drake Park to Alpine Physical Therapy and back through Columbia Park, with three beer stops (10 Barrel BrewingDeschutes Brewing, and Cascade Lakes Brewing) along the way. It will begin and end at the Bite of Bend festival and follow quiet residential roads along the way. The finish line will even feature a beer stop! Check out a large course map here.

beer-run-mapWe are previewing this race early, because it is one that has become pretty big and is expected to fill up quickly. The first 800 racers will receive a commemorative Bite of Bend Beer Run souvenir.

There will be prizes awarded to participants in costume, though dressing like a sloppy drunk is frowned upon (even if mildly accurate)!

When: Noon on 6/29/14
Where: Corner of Bond and Franklin
Register: Online here; $30 (plus $2.35 service fee)
