Preview: 2014 Hippie Chick Half Marathon – A Better Series Race

One of the races I am most excited about this year is the Hippie Chick! Every year I have heard great and amazing things about this race, but yet was unable to run it because it always fell on my Military National Guard Weekend. THIS YEAR IT DOES NOT! So I was very excited at my first opportunity to check this race out first hand on Mother’s Day Weekend. In addition to that it will be my first race since February due to military obligations filling up much of my time.

What have I heard? Great swag (The shirts I see are always so cute) like a Chinook book last year! Excellent Vendors, and volunteer support. The option to do quarters in addition to the half. Welcoming to all women of all shapes, sizes, abilities, and runner or walkers and I hear they have  plentiful water and aid stations, and some serve Luna bars. Finally, I really enjoyed finishing in the stadium at the Helvetia Half, so I know I will enjoy it at this race too.

hippie-chick-half-marathonI am not looking forward to the hot weather, but I believe it will give me the training necessary for my Hood to Coast this year and stick with the pacers and see what my time is, and of course work on improving that time. I do look forward to the out and back to cheer on the runners and afterwards I will enjoy the pancake breakfast,  mimosa garden and awesome live music. Sadly, those mimosa’s are not free.

Check out a video of last year’s race start here. What is a race you are looking forward to this summer?
