Race Preview: Stub Stewart Trail Challenge

Stub Stewart Trail Challenge

If you are looking for a new twist on your 10k runs, consider the Stub Stewart Trail Challenge. This (approximately) 6.25 mile run takes place at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park on Sunday, April 6, 2014. It runs mostly on gravel and bark chip trails, with only a small portion of the course following the paved Banks-Vernonia State Trail. Due to the narrow trails, the race is limited to 100 participants.

Runners will start out at the Hilltop Day Use Area ($5 parking fee, or valid 12- or 24-month pass required), and follow the marked path on the trails through the park. Most of the course follows multi-use trails (watch out for bikes and yield to horses) within the state park, circling around the campground, the horse camp, through the disc-golf course, and along the paved Banks-Vernonia State Trail. It is a fun and beautiful course; consider bringing your camera along.
