Small Race Preview: St. Pattie’s Shamrock Run 5k /10k in Sisters

Sisters-Multi-Sport-LogoOur Small Race Preview series runs every Monday, to let you know of a low-cost race put on by local race organizers for the following weekend. Each race featured will offer day of race registration. Please get out there and support these events, and share this post to tell your friends!

I am heading over to Central and Southern-Central Oregon this week for work. I posted on our Facebook that I am going to be stopping in to the Solstice Movie Screening on Thursday night (only about 30 spots remain!). While I perusing the FootZone Bend website, I stumbled upon a race on Friday evening and I thought it was a date misprint. But after checking it out, I am going to do my absolute best to hit up the St. Pattie’s Shamrock Run 5k /10k in Sisters at 6pm on Friday, March 14.

The race consists of a 5k and 10k course, run almost entirely on smooth single track with limited elevation gain.  The [run] will take place at 6:00 PM…and begin/end at the Sisters Athletic Club.  Upon finishing the event be sure to join us for a beer. So bring your best St. Pattie’s Day outfit and hope for the luck of the Irish as you spend your Friday night racing out in Sisters!

You can check out a large scale trail map here, as well as the 10k route and 5k route too. Awards will be given to top finishers and there will also be raffle prizes and a prize awarded to the wearer of the best holiday costume! Last year’s event saw 70 total runners, but count yours truly as a +1 this week (assuming work doesn’t get in the way). I always look for an excuse to stay in Central Oregon as long as I can, and here is one of the better ways to accomplish that!

St. Pattie’s Shamrock Run 5k /10k (Sisters)
When: 6p
Where: Sisters Athletic Club at Peterson Ridge Trailhead
Register: Online; $28 for 10k, $23 for 5k; Also DOR Registration
