The first half of the course is mainly downhill, with a lot of small rollers; from the halfway point back to about 2.5 is mainly uphills … about 100 feet of gain. Not a huge climb, but you’ll feel it.
The route starts from Sexton Mountain Elementary and runs out SW Rigert Road before turning onto the Powerline Trail, a wide asphalt path that connects many parks – including Summercrest Park, which you’ll run through. You’ll then come to Hart Meadows Park and jump on that trail, which starts out nicely downhill before starting the uphill near where you turn right onto SW Hart Road.
From there, it’s a right turn on SW 165th back in front of the school – and past the 2nd mile – before you swing wide around Beacon Hill Park on SW Flagstone Drive and then cut back through the park to SW Rigert. A hard right will bring you back up to the school, past the 3-mile mark and 0.1 mile further to the finish.
This race will be chip timed by our friends at Huber Timing.
There are prizes for the top three men and women, courtesy of the wonderful folks at Portland Running Company. Each place will win a gym bag; with first place also taking home a $40 PRC gift card and a PRC hoodie; 2nd place taking home a $20 gift card and a PRC hat; and 3rd place receiving PRC arm warmers and socks.
