Race Preview: 2014 Michael DeRobertis Memorial Couples Classic 5k in Eugene

couples-classic-logoOut of the wake of tragedy comes honor. The 37th running of Eugene's Couple's Classic has been rebranded as the Michael DeRobertis Memorial Couple's Classic 5k following the North Eugene High School cross-country coach's passing earlier this year from brain cancer. The race is Saturday, February 15.

This Eugene staple features a flat, fast, double looped 5K course through the neighborhoods surrounding Emerald park. Check out a course map here. Given that the name consists of “couples” there is a team entry to go along with individual registration. Times will be added together to determine a winner. If you prefer, enter the non-competitive fitness walk. Whatever you do, just get out there. Even your kids can’t be an excuse, as complimentary child care for pre-registered runners is on-site. There will even be dressing rooms, showers, and hot tub access so bring your swimsuit!

Following the race, there will be random drawings, prizes, and Mo’s clam chowder for everyone!
