Race Preview: Snowflake Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk

I really wasn’t planning on racing again until Shamrock on March 16.  After my second place AG finish for the Hot Buttered Run and feeling like I went out on a good note, I thought it best to rest and re-tool for 2014.  Then the Snowflake Dash popped up and my “semi-retirement” went out the window!

This is a new event this year, hosted and organized by the Diva Den Studio in Tigard.  It’s a fun run/walk for ladies only.  I know that put some folks’ tighty whiteys in a wad, but it shouldn’t, especially when this is also a non-chip timed, non-competitive run/walk for fun.  And heck, men are invited to hang out and there are even warm places with beer to do it!

The Diva Den is keeping with a fun snowflake them and encouraging ladies to dress up.  Wear whatever fluffy, white and/or furry gear you have and there will be a costume contest post-race, whoever gets the loudest cheer wins!

The race starts at the Diva Den studio and will wind through the streets of old town Tigard.  Parts of the course will pass through Fanno Creek Trail (I haven’t been on the trail since I was a little girl in search of blackberries on a hot summer day while visiting my aunt in the area).

They are also going to have raffle stations set up along the course but apparently we have to earn our raffle ticket.  They’ve hinted that we’ll need to do burpee or two or our best bootie shake (I don’t have a bootie to shake but I’ll shake whatever I’ve got for a chance at some serious door prizes).  We won’t know until race day what we’ll HAVE to do, so the anticipation has me giddy.

The ladies at the Diva Den are also well aware that it’s going to be cold, so they plan to have the studio garage doors open for us to hang out inside pre and post-race.  According to the ladies they also have a little something for everyone.  A Zumba warm up, performance by our Diva Den Dan Troupe, chair massage, coco, hot soup, fruit, water and of course a post-race beer.

I asked for some examples of their door prizes and here’s what they’ve told me about so far: running socks, handful sports bra (I so want another one of these!), one hour massage, and hair care gift basket for starters.  I know they are working on more.  All this fun is well worth the admission price of $35!

Early packet pick up will be at Road Runner sports in Tualatin on January 10 from 12 to 5pm.  If you go you will receive in store discounts and EXTRA RAFFLE TICKETS.  I’m there!  If you can’t make it to packet pick up, race day packet pick up begins at 11:11AM at the Diva Den, race begins a 1:11PM!

All participants will receive a bib with a raffle ticket and free beer ticket (21 & older only).  They also have finisher swag bags that will be handed out as we cross the finish line.   And they have plenty of post race fun planned to:  Blitz sports bar in Tigard will be hosting the after party.  Stop by, warm up, visit with your local runners and enjoy ANOTHER RAFFLE.   And you can leave your Mr. at the sports bar while you run!!

Register today at:  I will see you there on race day!
