Kickstarter of the Week: Mighty Audio

Product: Mighty Audio
Location: Los Angeles
Kickstarter End Date: March 23, 2016
Current Pledge: $234,000 of $250,000

I am trying to distance myself from my smartphone. It can get a little addicting and has the tendency to keep us from what we love to do – run. However, with my streaming music all on my phone, and my need to listen to music when I run, running with my device has been a necessary evil…until now.  Mighty Audio states that they have created the “first and only device that takes your streaming music on-the-go without a smart phone”. From the campaign:

Why you need Mighty

Lightweight, durable, and small enough to clip-on to any piece of clothing, it’s the perfect device for your active life. Mighty comes equipped with Bluetooth and WiFi, is compatible with iPhones and Androids, and can play 48 hours of music without any internet connection. All for under $80.

Today, every option to stream music while exercising requires a bulky, fragile smart phone. And phones are only getting larger, more fragile, more expensive, and more battery hungry. This motivated us to create a simple product that provides users with a comfortable and seamless music+fitness experience, all without a phone.

The first version of Mighty will aim to integrate with Spotify only, but we plan on expanding our support to additional streaming music services in the near future.Integration with new music services will not require new hardware and can be done remotely through a software update.

Say goodbye to your iPod Shuffle, leave your smart phone at home, and Be Mighty!

The Mighty looks very similar to an iPod shuffle, a product that I have owned and always felt like they have really been a pain in the butt. NowI haven’t always had the latest and greatest version – but since 99% of my music comes through streaming services, having a device that necessitates owning the music files is almost worthless for me. Also, it’s lucky that I have been grandfathered into a phone plan with unlimited data considering the amount  I use to stream music. I shudder to think what my bill would look like otherwise. The Mighty would take care of those issues for me.

The campaign is about $20,000 away from reaching its goal – which may sound impossible. HOwever considering that they have over $230,000 in pledges right now, and it’s easy to think that it will make it. You can currently pledge to receive your own Mighty for $79 (with delivery around November of this year).
