Small race preview: Race to Eliminate 5k Run/Walk

The one thing I love just as much as the competitive nature of a race is knowing that the race itself is supporting a good cause. With Race to Eliminate, the case is no different. Key Club International (the largest student lead service organization), Kiwanis, and UNICEF have all partnered together to host the Race to Eliminate 5k Run or Walk with the hopes of raising awareness around maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) and hopefully helping to bring an end to this preventable disease. MNT is prevalent today in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America affecting babies and mothers who have little or no access to health care. More information on MNT and the Eliminate project can be found on the Kiwanis/UNICEF page here.

The Race to Eliminate 5k run/walk is scheduled for Sunday, September 27 at 9AM. The course will wind through the lovely little town of Canby, Oregon, starting and finishing at Wait Park.

Screenshot (2)Packet pick up will start at 8AM on race day. While the event is not chip timed, there will be a volunteer in charge of hand held timing ensuring that all racers receive an official finishing time. Post race refreshments will be made available to all runners and walkers and the top 3 male and female finishers will be awarded accordingly.

Registration can be found on the Eventbrite page here and will be made available until race day for the price of $20 plus the Eventbrite fee. Day of race registration will also be available for the price of $27.50.

If you’re looking for a fun little race that supports a great cause, this is an excellent choice.
