Preview: Gorge Waterfalls 100K and 50K

The Gorge Waterfalls 100k/50k is one of the most unique and scenic runs in the area. Imagine running through old growth forest, moss covering the ground, past more waterfalls than you can count and on mostly single track trail. There will even be an occasional breathtaking view as the trail pops out of the trees here and there.

To me, few things beat a run in the lush green Forests of the Pacific Northwest. I’m not sure if I can work it in this year. Well, I know I can’t because the 50k distance is already sold out and I’m not in shape to run a 100k. But if I were, this would definitely be the one.

If you’re planning to register, do it soon. March 8th is the last day to order a T-Shirt. This event has a cool policy when it comes to the shirt. The shirts are not included in the entry fee. This is from their website:

Our T-shirt philosophy: Who wants another ugly crappy race shirt that’s just going to take up space in your closet? Instead we’d rather use the best shirts with fun and tasteful designs and give the runners the choice to buy it instead of forcing it upon them and adding on to the cost for the entry fee. For all of our races we use high-quality eco-friendly tech shirts from Patagonia. For this race the shirts are short sleeve Capilene 1 with gender specific sizes. The fit is true to size or maybe a little on the small size  … to see examples of our past shirts click here.

Out on the course there will be plenty of aid stations with a bag drop at each one and also no shortage of porta-johns.

Post race at the Benson State Park you can drink locally made brews and eat handmade hot pizza.
